Dr. LoTempio (00:00): Hi, I am Dr. Maria LoTempio. I'm a board certified plastic surgeon living in New York City. Eva Sheie (00:06): Are there trends in BBL size and shape, and are you seeing those trends changing this year? Dr. LoTempio (00:15): Yeah, so maybe probably like eight, nine years ago, bigger the better. I mean, women wanted their own zip codes. They wanted nothing else but their behind to be really in the front. Eva Sheie (00:30): In New York City, we saw this especially? Dr. LoTempio (00:33): Oh yeah, oh yeah. And that's a little bit hard to obtain with one surgery. And those patients always had to be told, Hey, look, you're not going to get this on the first surgery. You go down to other places, in other countries, they can get it on the first shot because they're putting it under the muscle. They're doing it in different planes where they can really layer the muscle. But with all the literature and all the complications from that, now we don't do that. So to really achieve that really huge, huge buttocks, you're going to have to come two, three times and get injected if you really want that size. But now we've seen the trend is getting a little bit smaller now, and it's really kind of focusing on the hourglass, the proportions. They want a little pop, a little round, and most of my patients are really coming to me for the natural BBL. Dr. LoTempio (01:29): They just want to feel more in balance with their body. They want that hourglass, and I perfect the hourglass. So I think as time has gone on, the volumes we're injecting is less, the different positions where we're putting the fat. Some people wanted a shelf on their buttocks, and you can literally just hold your martini glass up there and be fine. Not me, obviously, but that's what some patients wanted, which is still fine. Some patients want certain types of looks, heart shape, reverse heart. But I think most of my patients, I would say in the last three to four years, want just to be more comfortable in clothing and more natural looking. Eva Sheie (02:12): Where can we see these results of yours? Dr. LoTempio (02:16): RealSelf, online, more importantly, come to my office, fifth Avenue, next to Sephora. Eva Sheie (02:22): Is there anything we can see on Instagram? Dr. LoTempio (02:24): Some of them are, except Instagram has an issue now that they constantly take. Eva Sheie (02:31): A butt policy. Dr. LoTempio (02:31): Yeah, they're constantly taking it down. Now I tell people, go meet your surgeon. Go talk to them. Go see their before and afters. I have 200, 300 slides of BBLs. Eva Sheie (02:43): If there are some photos online, there are many more to see when we come to the office. Dr. LoTempio (02:48): And those we just can't put online. A lot of them, those are just, we can't, for various privacy reasons, confidentiality. Eva Sheie (02:56): Too beautiful to see. You just got to come in. Dr. LoTempio (02:59): It's all about the beauty of the booty. Eva Sheie (03:03): On this podcast, we bring you directly to the doctors who are where before meets after.
