Dr. LoTempio (00:00): Hi, I am Dr. Maria LoTempio. I'm a board certified plastic surgeon living in New York City. Eva Sheie (00:06): Is it also a myth that you have to stay off your butt for weeks and weeks after you have a BBL, or is that true? Dr. LoTempio (00:15): So pressure kills the fat, we know that, and we know that you're going to lose about 40% in the first four to six weeks. And that number is very well delineated pretty much in the literature. So if you think about it, what kills fat, or better yet what I'd say, what enables fat to survive and it's blood flow. So our bodies are so brilliant and it knows to create blood vessels into the fat. And once those blood vessels are there, that fat is good to go and it will survive. But there's always that time where those blood vessels really need to grow, and any pressure, trauma to the buttocks can really inhibit and cause a delay, and ultimately you could lose more fat. So I like to say that you're not on your buttocks for about four or five days, and then you transition to the commonly known booty pillow and that becomes your best friend. You can name it, you can bedazzle it, but you're with that little thing for the next four to six weeks. Yeah, it's your best friend. You can drive with it, you can take it on airplanes. Eva Sheie (01:24): Do you ever see girls with the booty pillow on the subway? Dr. LoTempio (01:29): I don't really take the subway anymore, so I'm probably not the right person to ask because literally my office is like 10 blocks, so I just kind of walk. But yeah, I know for a fact, the fact that my staff who's had BBLs, they go the subway and they're little BBLs in their little velvet bag. Yeah. Eva Sheie (01:50): I can't say I've ever seen that. It sounds like it'd be a funny site to see. Dr. LoTempio (01:54): Yeah, it's very common. Yeah. The booty pill is your best friend. Eva Sheie (01:59): Where can we see these results of yours? Dr. LoTempio (02:02): Ah, RealSelf, online, more importantly, come to my office, fifth Avenue, next to Sephora. Eva Sheie (02:08): Is there anything we can see on Instagram? Dr. LoTempio (02:10): Yeah, some of them are, except Instagram has an issue now that they constantly take. Eva Sheie (02:18): A butt policy. Dr. LoTempio (02:18): Yeah, they're constantly taking it down. Now I tell people, go meet your surgeon. Go talk to them. Go see their before and afters. I have 200, 300 slides of BBLs. Eva Sheie (02:29): If there are some photos online, there are many more to see when we come to the office. Dr. LoTempio (02:35): And those we just can't put online, a lot of them, those are just, we can't, for various privacy reasons, confidentiality. Eva Sheie (02:42): Too beautiful to see. You just got to come in. Dr. LoTempio (02:46): It's all about the beauty of the booty. Eva Sheie (02:50): On this podcast, we bring you directly to the doctors who are where before meets after.
